WATER SOLUBLE TUBES

 

 

The most concentrated types of sticks are put into water-soluble tubes.  The tube acts as a tough skin to surround the chemical and the only environment exposure is the tube itself.  This is a safety feature since the tube is essentially non-toxic.  When regular hard sticks are manufactured a hardener must be used to raise the melting point of the chemical for use up to 120ºF.  The amount of hardener used reduces the active ingredient.  Even though as a rule sticks made using a soluble tube are more expensive, they are often a better value and fewer sticks are used due to their high concentration of active ingredients.  The tube also acts like a glove to protect the user’s hand from direct contact with chemical.  The soluble tube reaches deeper into the fluid before dissolution, which helps remove more fluid, from the well.

 

SELECT SOLUBLE TUBES are made from modified water-soluble polymers and are soluble in Fresh and Salt water.  Dissolving time is a function of the type of water and temperature.  Under average conditions (40,000 PPM to 60,000 PPM of salt and 160ºF) the SELECT SOLUBLE TUBES will dissolve in approximately 12 to 16 minutes.  

 

TUBE USAGE

 

SELECT SOLUBLE TUBES are very useful to deliver small quantities of foaming agents and other types of chemicals down to the bottom of oil and gas wells and water wells where they are needed to treat certain types of problems.  The greatest use of water soluble tubes is in the delivery of concentrated foaming agents to the bottom of Gas wells for water removal.

 

Liquid foaming agents may be poured into the tubes at the well location and dropped into the wells.  When this procedure is used with a water based liquid, the tube must be dropped very quickly or it will dissolve.  Highly concentrated foaming agents that are gelled are often used in the SELECT SOLUBLE TUBES because they are stable and have a long “shelf-life”.  These types of systems allow the operator to deliver the most concentrated chemical agents to the bottom of his wells.  The tubes are very light and can be shipped close to the point of usage before being filled.  This offers large saving in freight and delivery costs.
